Albums :: "War of Love" Produced: Virtual Alien. Musicians: Virtual Alien (auto harp, bass guitar, vocals, keyboards) Markus Ineichen (keyboards, octopad, piano, sequencers, samplers), Philip Adamir (accordion, keyboards, bass), John Malkovich (drums, percussions), Rick Mitra (keyboards and bass). Tracks: Quiet Life, For Ever and Never, The Inside Story, Well Red, Uranus and Jupiter, War of Love, and Drizzle. First released in 1988. This album has never been released in the U.S. (until 2005) with the original cover as the pictures allegedly breached guidelines between decency and pornography. The album has been released in the U.S. in 1989 as 3 EPs. Pure synthetic-pop. The angst of a young adolescent in the throes of a static world. Far too innocent in parts perhaps and too heavier in parts. Stuck between the cold wave and electronic music. Heaven -the innocent part- is a gorgeous piece on the piano, too naive but impeccable nonetheless. |

Musicians: Virtual Alien (vocals, guitar, keyboards, tapes) Markus Ineichen (keyboards and bass) and Rick Mitra (keyboards and bass). Tracks: The Way You Make Me Feel (original version), Heart, Devil Inside, The Edge of Love, Inside Story, Fascination, Quick Step Beyond, Be Bop, No Man's Land, Devil's Life, Yesterday's Shadow, On An Axe, The Funeral Party (instrumental), A Bed Time Story, and The Final Song. It had never been released in its entirety until recently. Live and uncut, as it features all the singles and EP versions distributors were too scared to release for fear of inciting a backlash from devil worshippers. Old Nick, the devil in Christian and Jewish belief marks the turning point in the life of a young teenager rebelling against the standard format for the music distribution. Torn between religious feuds, newly discovered sexuality, crossing musical genres, agonising noises and possessed by evil forces. |

Tracks: King of the World (original version), WWW1 (Marquis de Sade mix), Knocking on Heaven's Door, With a Mouse (To Your Mouth), Reprise, Thundering Typhoons, Whispering Erotic Night, Song from In and Out, WWW2. The WAR album. "King of the world" the title track was written by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. Heavy Rock/Punk and indie music. The single “King of the World” has first been released in November 1989 in the U.S. and in 1990 in the rest of the world excluding Britain. The single has been released and filed as: “Virtual Alien” but also as “Old Nick”. The video was banned by MTV due to the coming Gulf War. The rather chaotic video included footage of war and violent sports. It was then re-released in 1992 in the UK and in 1993. In 1993 the album "King of the World" has been released featuring "WWW" an early insight into the web. As a single "King of the World" reached the top of 9 college charts in the U.S. and was number one on several French and German radio stations. The magazine Billboard described the album as: "Digital sound with some remnant of indie rock. Virtual Alien AKA Old Nick. He's back and still fascinated by his occult". By 1995 the album sold 2M copies. |

This album of tales, noises and conceptual art is composed of songs from the "Old Nick" album desiccated and re-arranged accordingly. It conjures the world of rock with imagery of an hallucinated mind. |
